Eclipse 2024 After Action
I have heard nothing but good things from County Emergency Managers on the support that many of our Members and their Clubs put behind being prepared for any significant issues that might have occurred during the Total Solar Eclipse. Thank you to everyone who offered support.
From NTX Section Emergency Coordinator
I appreciate everyone’s support for our Served Agencies throughout North Texas. Many Cities and Counties across the Section asked for assistance from local ARES and Texas State RACES groups to help with planning and supporting operations.
Together with Texas State RACES, our section maintained readiness levels during the eclipse that were vital for our States’ ability to respond if needed.
In February, our Section tested sharing resources between Texas State RACES and North Texas ARES, including the 7290 Traffic Net, NTX ARES HF Net, the NCTC Repeater System, ETECS Repeater System, and FLG Repeater System, multiple Allstar nodes, and VHF/UHF/HF VARA Winlink Nodes. With more than 300 check-ins during the brief exercise period, we saw how well our shared resources could offer the backup capabilities our communities needed.
On Eclipse 2024 Day, the weather cooperated and most of us saw a fantastic event!
I am firmly dedicated to continuing to work with Texas State RACES for future events and activities. I firmly believe that only by working together will we fulfill our mission of supporting our communities. I thank all of you for your support and look forward to working with you and our Texas State RACES partners in the future.
